Just about any bowling alley would love to have a favorable write-up in the NY Times, and that’s just the case for Arsenal Bowling Lanes. In a Travel Guide feature on things to do in Pittsburgh, the newspaper suggests a trip to the bowling center on 212 44th St., saying it’s “where old-school bowling vibe meets night club atmosphere.”
This is exactly the type of scene Arsenal Bowling Lanes tries to cultivate: plenty of nice modern features while still maintaining an authentic retro feel. The alley features include a “Hollywood Bowl” room as well as The Upstairs Saloon, which features fine oak and exposed brick.
Night Club Atmosphere
After 9pm, the lights go dim and the DJs take over. Every single day there is a separate special. There’s Bingo Bowling on Sundays, College Night on Tuesdays and 80s night on Thursdays, just to name a few. These special events require bowlers to be 21 or older and present a valid ID, and there is usually a cover charge. With a variety of contests, prizes and drink specials, though, it seems like they certainly make up for it!
Party Central
Even with all this high class entertainment, Arsenal Bowling Lanes declares parties to be its specialty. A variety of packages are available in the bowling alley and the upscale “Hollywood Bowl” room. There are a number of food combinations that can be ordered, either buffet style or by individual entrees.
For the kids, there are three different tiers of birthday party packages.
