Bowling alleys in New York City aren’t typically known for being inexpensive, but believe it or not, it actually is possible to scope out a great deal if you know where to look. Maple Lanes in Brooklyn is certainly one of those places.
Specials
There are a variety of bowling specials offered on different days of the week. Sundays are “Dollar Mania” with $1 games after a $6 cover. Mondays are “Night Madness” with lanes at $15/hour. For you early birds, however, Sunday mornings are by far the best value. From 9am to Noon (3 full hours), unlimited bowling is only $25 per lane!
There are also other deals available for families bowling together.
Videos
Most bowling center websites focus only on touting their own features, but Maple Lanes decides to offer a section of “Cool Bowling Vids.” The embedded video clips play right on the page and are really interesting. You’ll learn how a pinsetter works, how bowling balls are made, why they hook and how to keep score like an expert. Our favorite was the explanation of the hook: the 7 minute long video came from a History Channel show and showed you the best angle for the ball to enter the pocket after presenting a short history about how oil patterns work and how modern equipment serves to make scoring easier.
Events
Maple Lanes also specializes in company parties and fundraisers. For the parties, they offer affordable event packages featuring different food, ranging from pizza to Italian or American Hero Platters. Their fundraising efforts have apparently helped dozens of local organizations raise significant funds.
