We are always partial to bowling alleys with clever names, and Memory Lanes in Minneapolis, Minnesota definitely grabbed our attention.
But it’s not just a gimmick, as there is something substantial behind this title.
Throwback Atmosphere with Modern Convenience
With everything they do, Memory Lanes cultivates an ambiance of old-time fun. As the web page for their on-site Flashback Cafe states, “with throwback décor and style, (we) take you back to when Elvis was king, Monroe was a symbol and the Rat Pack were icons.”
They also feature all the modern conveniences, however, including advanced electronic scoring and a lavish lights show that goes on while you bowl. A Citypages review assures you it will be a lot of fun, “as long as you can avoid an epileptic seizure.” We assume won’t be too much of a problem.
The Flashback Cafe is also a cocktail lounge and features an extensive menu of food and drinks to go with several plasma TVs and two game rooms.
Live Music
The live entertainment, however, is one characteristic that puts this bowling center over the top.
The music stage is practically right on top of the lanes, so you can channel the energy of the fast-paced hard rock song being performed right in front of you to help you roll the ball with extra force. Memory Lanes book different bands three nights a week and all shows are 21 and up with no cover. They also feature “Punk Rock Mondays.”
If you enjoy any two of the following: bowling, rocking out, bright lights and sounds, drinking and watching TV, Memory Lanes will most likely be a great place for you.
