In the St. Louis metropolitan area, there are plenty of spots to bowl, but one alley, Tropicana Lanes, stands out from the pack. Part of it is sheer size. With 52 lanes, it weighs in as one of the larger bowling centers in the United States.
But that certainly isn’t all. Tropicana Lanes has been serving the community for over 50 years and has maintained a classic retro atmosphere throughout, despite adding automatic scoring and other technological advancements recently.
Three generations of Richmond Heights residents have looked up at the large sign on Clayton Road with eager anticipation. You can bowl a few games with family or friends, shoot some pool, play in the game room, host an event in the banquet room or just grab a drink in the lounge.
The alley is owned and operated locally by Ray Bluth, Tino DiFranco, and Carol Santens. Bluth and DiFranco have been in the bowling business for over 50 years, and Bluth has an even greater accomplishment: he’s a member of the Bowling Hall of Fame.
Tropicana Lanes has often been recognized as the best bowilng alley in St. Louis, including by Suburban Journal and St. Louis Magazine.
In addition to casual bowling, Tropicana Lanes has often hosted the nationally televised Professional Bowling Tour. If you want to get in on the more competitive side of the game, there are a number of leagues available, and if you have a large group, you can even form your own.
