There aren’t any gimmicks here, and there’s not even automatic scoring. Although it’s not common anymore, keeping score by hand has a certain charm to it, and it can make a high game that more rewarding.
History of Timber Lanes
The alley has a very interesting history that even predates its construction, as the plot of land was once an Indian burial ground. The official website states that some believe the alley is haunted, and offers that as an explanation for any miraculous falling of pins that seem to defy all logic!
Timber Lanes also played a role in many significant events in Chicago as well as our nation’s history. The location was a safe house on the underground railroad during the Civil War, it was a popular speakeasy during Prohibition and was even converted to a factory during World War II that fashioned helmets for American soldiers.
Today’s Timber Lanes
Today, you can bowl at Timber Lanes for very reasonable prices, $2.50 per game Monday through Friday or $3 on the weekends, and they also an accommodate a wide variety of events and parties. They also let you use outside food for your events to cut costs, but drinks must be purchased on site.
