The Garage in Seattle does pool, shuffleboard, food and bowling, and the first three are so impressive that some people don’t even make it to the lanes!
Locals rave over the food offerings, which include a variety of interesting dishes including Mike’s Mom’s Meatloaf, Veggie Enchiladas, Beef Medallions and Tinga, a Spanish stew with chicken and spicy chorizo sausage topped off with poblano sour cream. There is also a bar menu with sandwiches and pizzas and they even do catering.
The wine list is also extensive, with affordable bottles reds, whites and sparkling up to more expensive cabernets and Dom Perignon Champagne. The bar is a very popular local hangout spot.
The atmosphere is very much aimed at adults, as you must be 21 years of age or older to enter at all times. The Garage is open seven days a week from 3:00 PM to 2:00 AM.
History
Before opening up to bowling in 2003, the venue was already an established billiards destination, featuring a 7,500 square foot pool hall with tournament-sized tables. After unveiling the three story bowling alley layout, another major addition was completed in 2008. Today, The Garage covers almost 40,000 square feet in total, with 25 pool tables, and 20 bowling lanes spread out over the three different levels.
The architecture and decorations are quite distinctive, as explained on the alley’s official website:
The space maintains the same industrial sensibility of the original 1928 building with high ceilings and exposed wooden trusses, anchored with elements such as chrome, high gloss automotive paint and leather throughout. Retro, 1950’s minimalist décor includes furniture and fixtures from Eames, Paulson, Saarinen and Varga to name a few.
Specials
There are numerous specials at The Garage, including a lane rental happy hour every day from 3-7pm, in which a lane will cost you only $10 per hour. The happy hour drink specials complement this rate quite nicely, with $3 well drinks, and $2.50 pints.
There is also a great late-night special Sunday through Thursday after 10pm where a lane only costs $5 per hour and pizzas are half-price.
